"The Dragon and the Vampiress"

1999, and yes, I'm a weird one. This was supposed to be a 'bribe' for an online fiction contest (which allowed and even solicited 'bribes' as a means of getting members to write). Somehow I got the poem done and forgot to actually enter the contest. Oops.

Said the dragon to the vampiress,
"Oh, surely woe is me!
For I have naught to feed thee,
Though you would come to tea."

Said the vampiress to the dragon,
"Nay, worry nevermore!
For my tastes are rare yet simple,
Therefore do not deplore!"

Said the dragon to the vampiress,
"Oh, happy am I now!
For now mayhap I'll feed thee,
Though still I know not how."

Said the vampiress to the dragon,
"Ah, merely thaw some meat,
My favourite steak still pink.
This find me, then I'll eat."

Said the dragon to the vampiress,
"Yet the very flame I breathe
Should roast pinkness from the meat.
Therefore mayhap I'll leave!"

And to this day they stand apart,
The dragon and the vampiress.
The foolish things, to overlook
But going out for sandwiches!

This is the end. If you haven't followed a link yet, perhaps you should take it from the top.
